Getting VPN access

we need to install the Cisco Anyconnect client

• type https://vpn.victoria.ac.nz into your browser
• select General Access and enter your university username and password
• you may need to read and accept the End User Agreement to gain access
• download the AnyConnect Client and run the installer

  

• if you need more help with instructions after installation click on AnyConnect in the side panel

  

• you should see something like this, use the links on the left

  

• now goto your applications folder and open the "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client"

  

• in the text box that appears type vpn.victoria.ac.nz and click on the Connect button

  

• you should see it looking for a connection

  

• if for some reason vpn.victoria.ac.nz doesn't work try vpn.vuw.ac.nz
• it will ask you for your password again, enter your credentials

  

• it will ask you to use the service responsibly, read and accept

  

• some stuff will flash up on the AnyConnect mini-window and it will disappear on a successful connection

trouble shooting

• add *.victoria.ac.nz to the list of trusted sites for your web application
• you may be asked to enable multi-factor authentication, you really should have this going already!
• if for some reason vpn.victoria.ac.nz doesn't work try vpn.vuw.ac.nz
• try selecting Privileged Access and enter your university username and password
